And forget that Pledge Spray for all surfaces....nothing but smears all over. I'm finding that just using a microfiber cloth and water is working pretty good for me.
I figured out what NOT to use! I was cleaning the bathroom at the old house last week before the security inspection, and using Clorox spray. Never ever use bleach on a mirror! It was horrible!
I did some research and found a recipe for homemade glass cleaner that most of us can make with ingredients we already have at home. Combine 1/4 cup undiluted white vinegar, 1 tbsp cornstarch, and 1 quart warm water. I don't buy newspapers anymore so I use a coffee filter which works just as well. More ideas can be found here:
You have to make sure there are no colored inks on the pages, and also that the paper is at least three days old. If it's less than three days old the ink will transfer and cause streaks. Also, crumple it in a ball so it's all wrinkly before you start. Don't know why but it does make a difference.
mkup,
Thanks Hope you find them useful. I swear by the tea. I have a spray bottle in the frige all the time.

For the hard water on the shower try sprinkling salt on the cut side of a lemon, rubbing the glass or tile then rinsing. For glass, use lemon juice, straight, just sprinkle it on and wipe with newpaper (blank ink only and at least 3 days old). Or make some tea and when it cools, put it in a spray bottle, use that as your all natural glass cleaner, again with newspaper. Both the lemon and the tea give a nice clean, astringent scent as a bonus.
What is the secret to cleaning shower doors and mirrors. First, the shower doors, I have hard water where I live and I've tried lots of cleaning products for this job. I've even gone as far as wiping themdown with rubbing alcohol and also have tried Rain-ex (a product for windshields).
Small mirrors I seem to be able to wipe without streaking. Larger mirrors and windows, I always have streaks. I've been using a microfiber cloth with either plain water (as directed) or Windex. I've tried vinegar/ammonia and water and newspaper.(I've even checked the internet).
