I have the same compulsion about tags on towels. I can't stand to see them and cutting them off, never works completely.
I also have to make my bed every day. Although, I have to say, I'm using bed linens and covers that make it easy and no fuss.
A friend of mine, who is a wonderful quilter, got me into making my own pillow cases out of designer quilting fabrics. They really jazz up my plain sheets and comforter.
When I get sick I can see every little thing that needs to be done and don't feel like doing it. I don't know If its because I have slowed down enought to notice things or what.
I don't know if you would consider this a cleaning quirk or not, but I can not stand towels and washcloths folded with the tags on the outside, even if they have been removed I have to find where they were and fold them to the inside. I have even tried to break myself of this and folded all of them without making sure they were on the inside and then I had to go back and unfold them and make sure they were on the inside.
I keep saying they need to make a self cleaning house! With 4 kids, my house never stays clean for very long. There are a couple things that I keep done at al times or I go insane. I can't handle dishes in the sink, dust on the floor(Hardwood) or a full trash can. I also can't go to bed with an unclean living room. Wierd eh? Anyone else got any cleaning quirks?
I recently recieved my pledge multi surface bzz kit since I am a member of that agency as I have explained before. I love it, not haveing to worry about trying not to streak the glass on my pictures while cleaning the frames. It works wonders on my glass tables and tv stand.
Here's something I've just started doing. I use simple green, diluted for everything. But of course, it has no smell. I've been adding in a few drops of my favorite perfume and then my whole house has a lovely scent!
As I write this, I am waiting for people to come look at my house. I manage to try and keep up with keeping it neat and clean (without over-doing it) As long as my kitchen, bathroom and vacuuming are done, I'm happy. I know what you mean about it being a task or burden, but like you, I like it clean and pretty much organized without being fanatical. I know what I need to accomplish before showing my home and don't go crazy like I used to when it was first on the market.
Mkupjunkie, here's hoping your house sells soon and you can get away from the "burden" of house cleaning. Any time there is no choice in what you have to do, it becomes more of a burden than just a task or even a pleasure.
I've made my peace with house work. I've found if I can reduce clutter, it makes the process easier, but I've also recognized that having a "clean" house means having a clean house for maybe three minutes tops. Hoping it stays clean is asking too much of the world.
I look at it like it's part of my life's work, part of the journey. I like a basically clean house but I'm not fanatical. I want it clean enough so I don't feel guilty and get depressed about it.
Frazzled, the way I look at it is this: The kids grow up so fast and I don't want to miss any of those special moments, but the housework will always be there! LOL
Really though, I try to make a game of cleaning and get the kids involved. It helps teach them responsibility and makes them feel a part of the bigger picture, as well as getting to spend time with them.
I never seem to have enough time in the day to get all the house work done; there will always be something that needs to get done. It is really amazing how much work I can get done when I know there is company coming though. I would love to have a perfect house but also know that it will never happen in my lifetime...it is just way too expensive lol.
Lisa I really do like it because I really hate to clean but like everything to be clean so the more stuff I can find to make it easier the more I like it.
That sounds like a wonderful product bigKCfan. Thanks so much for sharing. Anything that makes cleaning easier and gets the job done good is a plus in my book.
Hi Guys, Since this topic is about cleaning I thought that I would share a product that was sent to me by the bzz agency to try and see how it worked and then spread the word to others.
I was sent the scrubbing bubbles action scrubber to try. When I first opened it up I saw a foam handle, the first thought that run through my head was how on earth is this going to work. The foam handle has a pretreated cleaning pad that attaches to the handle with velcro, once you attach the pad you just run it under running water to activate the cleaner and start scrubbing.
I have to say that I was really suprised at how well it worked. The foam handle gives you a lot of extra elbow grease without killing your hands and wrists and since it bends when you go around the curves of your bathtub it is much faster than getting down and scubbing yourself to death. I spent about half the time I usually do when I use a cleaner with a sponge. When you are finished you just pull the pad off the handle and throw it away, which meant a lot less mess than having to wash the towel or sponge you would normally use.
So for all of you who like the clean but not the cleaning I would recommend trying this product, it is inexpensive to buy also.
