I often soak in a tub with apple cider vinegar and epsom salts (or bath salts). What it does for your feet it also does for your entire body. I don't mind the smell of vinegar, even in concentrated form, but you don't really use that much and it just leaves your skin smelling fresh.
I have some luffas that got a bit too stiff for regular use, but work great on your feet.
One time I went to a friend's house and we tried some beauty techniques we found online. One of them was for feet and it was my favorite: we soaked our feet in warm water, lemon juice and oatmeal. The oatmeal exfolliated the skin and afterward my feet felt great! Give it a try, you won't regret it.
I love this idea! Vinegar is amazing and I actually kind of like the smell! (lol) I'm going to give this a try, I always have vinegar around! What a great money saver!
I found out two natural tips for helping keep soft, supple feet... if you can put up with the scent!
Soaking your feet in a solution of a cup of vinegar, a cup of epsom salt and warm water for 20 minutes will remove dead, rough patches and soften any calluses on your feet.
I've tried it... and it absolutely works! It did take me a few soaks, but I'm enjoying the difference.
The ped-egg has been great. I can't believe how smooth my feet are starting to get. Of course a professional pedicure would be awesome if I could have 10 minutes alone lol.
I went yesterday and got a pedicure and it was wonderful. I have not had one in years and it was so relaxing and my toes look so great. They had those wonderful chairs that massage your back at the same time.
Satin Hands by Mary Kay. It also works on your feet!

I do my own pedicures at home and love it. Just to have my feet soaking makes me feel so good. I trim, file and shape and then lotion them up. Then I pick a pretty pink for the nails and they are done. I do them every other week in the summer and monthly in the winter.
One bit of advice to go with the suggestion of 'go gently' is to take your time. Don't try to get all of the dead skin off in one sitting, especially if you're like me and you have a significant build-up on your feet, ankles and calves.
I do a little every other day and it is working like a charm. I follow it up with a particularly rich lotion, an extra healing, fragrance-free for maximum hydration and my feet and ankles are starting to look so much better!
Maureen, believe me it works great. It's like a sander for the feet. It doesn't hurt, just use it gently. You won't believe the dry skin it collects. It doesn't tickle when you do your heels and that's where most of the dry skin is. I have a callous on the pad of my foot and I didn't find it ticklish using it there either.
