Cornstarch- what a great idea, wouldn't have thought of it. It's one of those things that once someone says it you want to smack yourself in the forehead. When I was growing up my mom always had cornstarch in the house, seems she always had a use for it.

Several years ago, I made a huge beauty blunder! I decided I was tired of oily lids and I was going to stop them. I used BABY Powder on my lids.......ohhh my, I had the worst caked/cracked/goopy lids around in a few hours! LOL

I'll have to try cornstarch! I use just a regular oil absorbing pressed powder on my lids, but they still seem to get oily in a very short time.

I have had that problem, but instead of any makeup or pressed powder, just dab on some constarch powder or talc before applying eyeshadow. It does help the shadow to adhere and usually keeps the oil down throughout the day. I am in my mid 40s and have the oily problem still. I think its simply hormonal and not a lot can be done to change things other than getting treatments of fraxel laser or IPL, which I have not tried yet.

My eyes, like everything else aboutme is a little odd, lol. My lids are oily, but if I use shadow, it will sometimes look dry & cracky.

Neutrogena has Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder that has an oil-absorbing formula. And it is hypoallergenic. That might help before you put your eye shadow on and during the day use a little brush right over your shadow.

The eye area inside of the orbital bone has very few oil glands, so oily eyelids are a result of the oil produced in the brows and eyelashes. There are two main culprits for oily eyelids and eyeshadowing creasing.

#1.Not removing eye make-up at night.

Are you removing your eye makeup every single night with a gentle makeup remover designed for the eye area? This will help remove the oils that build up while you sleep and create a film on the eyelid.

#2. Using a face moisturizer around the eye area for dry skin.

Heavy duty creams or face moisturizers often have oils and lipids that are too heavy for the eye area, won't absorb properly, and create a film that causing creasing.

Eliminate these possible culprits and problem is usually solved.  If not, it may be the quality of eye shadows you're using.

I can't say that I have this problem myself but I do tend to use foundation on my lids to help the eyeshadow stay better. This is just a guess but wondering if an oil control foundation would help. I will ask around to see if anyone has any ideas for you.

Oily lids?

I know this might sound strange, but I don't think we've discussed this before - oily eyelids.  It's like the creases seem to capture natural body oils and hold them, making the lids look kind of shiny but worse, making eyeshadow more difficult to adhere and look seemless.  Anyone else have that problem or have any ideas on how to combat it?
